Happy 50th Birthday, Singapore!

Early morning, the roads are empty. No cars, very little people on the streets, and bus frequency were low.

Come noon time, crowds were getting larger.

As part of SG50, both SBS Transit and SMRT are providing free rides for its services for the whole of today.

The feeling of not having the need to tap the ez-link card was great. Thought I will not feel the shiok-ness, but end up I couldn't get enough of the free rides. Another 50 years to have such great thing again perhaps?

As the clock ticks, and coming close to 12.30pm for the state funeral, even the sky is crying. And despite this, the people stand united despite the pouring rain. It's only the last thing we could do for the greatest leader of Singapore, Mr Lee Kuan Yew.

It's the last of the mourning period for the person whom I respected most. I'm sorry I couldn't attend any tributes.

Farewell, our dearest founding father. May your soul rest in peace.

Thank you. Thank you for your love for your cirizens. Thank you for everything.

Was praying earlier on when I saw some old videos of Mr Lee Kuan Yew on the television. Was thinking then, "why did they suddenly telecast such videos, early in the morning? Mr Lee is still fine."

Then, as I walked back to my room after washing up, I see a very solemn news presenter. She announced, "we will be bringing news update of the passing of Mr Lee Kuan Yew." That was when I got to know of this very saddening news.. My heart, literally sank. He's gone.. He's really gone..

He spent his whole life building Singapore. A better Singapore. And now, the burden's off him. Mr Lee, today, Singapore has lost a great leader. But you're at  last being relieved of all these matters. You're now up there with your beloved wife. It's finally time to have a good rest after these 52 years of contributions.

您的一生,都奉献给了新加坡。若不是你,新加坡你可能变成今天这个繁华都市。我很庆幸我能生长在这个这么安全,又廉洁的家园。因为您的远见,新加坡才能有这样的成就。谢谢您。请安息吧。

If it weren't because of Mr Lee Kuan Yew, Singapore would not have become what it is today. Mr Lee, I sincerely thank you from the bottom of my heart, for all you've done for Singapore.

Rest in peace, 国父!

Very heart-wrenching moments as days passed by with Mr Lee Kuan Yew's condition worsening each day.

The area around my eyes turned warm as I see photos of all well-wishers' gifts and words for the great man of Singapore. It turned especially hot when I see photos of PM Lee pen-ing down words for his father -

"Dear Papa
Hope you got better!"

It definitely ain't a good time for PM Lee. And I truly understand how he's feeling, having lost 4 kins within 6 years.

Mr Lee Kuan Yew, my thoughts and prayers are with you.

I'm definitely thankful for all you've done for Singapore. This has been the way I felt since the day I first heard of the name, Mr Lee Kuan Yew. I've had the utmost respect for you. And I'm definitely proud to say, I'm proud to be a Singaporean!

Some photos taken at Gardens by the Bay. :)

This is part of the fireworks as mentioned. :(

Another one. I love this.. if only this wasn't being blocked. :(

I think this is the best shot I've taken that night! Simply love this! :)

So to sum up, yeah, my camera sucks definitely. :( And I came to realised, I ought to do something to the resolution. lol.

Went Gardens by the Bay with Ya Li earlier on. Nothing much to look as the sky was already very dark. And poor us, we went to "feed mosquito", and kena caught by spiderwebs. :(

Had wanted to go nearby Marina Bay Floating Stadium, because there'll surely be fireworks. But end up totally forgotten about it. Awww. :(

Reached Gardens by the Bay and heard the sounds of fireworks - quite a lot - loud and clear. Saw a lil bit of the fireworks, but all got blocked by the MBS building. Can you imagine our disappointment to miss such great opportunity? Argh. Why, why, why? Why did I forgot about it?!

Ya Li consoled herself by saying it's alright, because she'll get to see it during the New Year countdown. Tsk. Good for her lo. I can't go leh. Ultimate sadness. :'(

Anyway, I'm glad about the meet today. Was a great local short getaway after all those shits at work this week. Yes, when I said shits, I meant it really is.

Overall, Gardens by the Bay is a really great place to get relieved of the stress from work. Definitely a great place for relaxation. I'll be back real soon. After I got a better camera, that is. :)

Oh by the way, I could see the office buildings in Raffles Place from there. And yes, once again, it got me thinking about my dear EY, reminiscing the days I was there. :(

It'll definitely be great if either of the two Tans win. But at the same time, I'll feel really sorry for the other Tan because the results are really really close. Well, at least that's the case for now.

Kinda contradicting yea? Seriously having mixed feelings. Argh. If only one of them didn't contest. Both are my favorites. :(

Oh well, that's part and parcel of life. Things don't always go the way you'd wished it would.

Grandma is more excited than I am. Told her last night that I'll be bringing her to vote today. And I guess she's waited the whole morning for me. Then, when dad came home, she asked him if I'm home cos she wants to vote. Luckily I'm already awake some minutes before dad came in, else I'll really get mad if he woke me up from my sleep-recovering-in-process. =x

Am so lazy to go out at such great, cooling weather. Tsk. Thank goodness it's just 2 minutes' walk away from my block.

And by the way, I didn't know mum's facing the same dilemma as I am. That is, between these 2 Tans. I think both mum and I will know clearly who to vote for, if this Tan didn't contest. >_<

Happy Birthday to my beloved country, Singapore!

Watched partial National Day celebrations earlier on. Managed to catch the fireworks and they're so nice! Really, really nice! How nice would it be, if only I could be there. =(
